LOCAL AREA

Penllechog is ideally situated for those who wish to come and visit the Llŷn Peninsula which is designated an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ on the strength of its stunning coastline, headlands, beaches and bays that are rich in wildlife. We are located approximately 7 miles from the market town of Pwllheli and 13 miles from the walled town of Caernarfon which is home to Caernarfon Castle.

The Llŷn Peninsula offers some great opportunities to get out and enjoy the great oudoors as well as indoor activities. Further afield, the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park is less than an hour’s drive away where you will discover further options available to you, especially if you’re into more thrill seeking activities.

Whether it’s a fun day out, a visit to one of the nearby heritage sites and / or museums, an evening at the cinema or a day at the beach, you are sure to find something to keep you and the whole family busy during your stay at Penllechog.

Listed below are just a few ideas for you to consider.

NEARBY BEACHES

The Llŷn Peninsula is blessed with an abundance of beaches and natural coves that make it worthy of its AONB status.

The nearby village of Trefor has a small beach with picnic area and lovely walk along the headland. Porth Towyn, Tudweiliog and Porthor (Whistling Sands) near Aberdaron are two of our personal favourites. Further afield, it may be worth checking out Black Rock Sands near Porthmadog where you can drive your vehicle on the beach. You may also wish to consider Pwllheli, Nefyn, Llanbedrog and Abersoch.
